I love Yogi Berra and his pithy, though quirky expressions. One of my favorites was about a popular restaurant in New Jersey, about which he once said. “Nobody goes to that restaurant anymore because it is too crowded.”
Funny? Sure, but I actually heard something just like this the other day. It was about Public Service Announcements and came from a Communications Director of a well-known nonprofit organization. She said, “Yes, I see lots of PSAs on TV, but do people really still run PSAs any more?”
That’s why I thought you would find it interesting to know that television stations today are airing PSAs at record levels and making more free advertising time available to qualified nonprofits than ever before.
In the first five months of 2021, television stations had over 900 PSAs in distribution, and were receiving over one million free airings per month. In the first five months of 2021 alone, PSA airings were up 5% higher from a year ago and up 51% compared to four years ago.
So yes, PSAs are alive and well and delivering wonderful awareness opportunities to the qualified 501 C (3) organizations that take advantage of this opportunity. If you are a 501C (3) organization, you are eligible to benefit from this affordable opportunity.
