In spite of the popularity of smartphones, TV-connected devices, tablets and digital wearables, more Americans tune into AM/FM radio than any other platform. Ninety-three percent (93%) of U.S. adults 18 and over are listening to radio, according to Nielsen’s second quarter 2017 Comparable Metrics Report.

With so many listening to radio, that means radio public service announcements are still a viable way for organizations to get widespread awareness.

Radio PSAs offer key advantages over their television counterpart, including:

 More cost-effective to produce and distribute
 Station formats allow for demographically targeting audiences
 Airings in great day parts including morning and evening drive times (according to Connect360’s analysis of radio airings in 2017, 24% aired during drive time)
 More radio stations provide more opportunities for airings

The next time you are planning a television campaign, consider stripping the audio to create a version for radio stations!
